The Auto Artificial Line AL-2 simulates a length of 0.5mm copper cable. The line length is switch selectable from 0 km to 7.9 km, increments being in 0.1 km steps. All components are 1% tolerance, and rated at 250v dc to allow the application of ring voltages as well as lower voltage signals. The switch selectable sections are all made up from discrete 0.1 km sections, and are arranged in a 'binary' format; sections of 0.1, 0.2, 0.4, 0.8 etc. allow line length selection using the minimum number of switches. One line is interrupted by a pair of terminals to allow monitoring of line current. A reversal switch provides for line reversal. Line lengths can be selected either by the front panel switches or via the internal parallel port. This functions identically to the standard LPT1 printer port, and allows line length selection by sending a simple ASCII value to the unit. The line length selected is shown by the front panel LED indicators. |
